Wow! It's crazy that the day is finally here to have our little guy! My due date was the 19th (yesturday) and I'm scheduled to be induced tomorrow at 2pm...I'm anxious and nervous all at the same time, but I THINK that I am ready for this new adventure. I figured I better do a quick post before going in to cover all of the things that have been happening in the last several weeks. First of all, I had 2 AMAZING baby showers, one with all of my collegues and friends at work and the other with family and friends from outside of work - they were both wonderful and I definitely felt the love. My friends Jane and Patty threw me my first baby shower was with all of the girls in my department at Melaleuca...everyone gave me some great advice about being a mother and raising children, and honestly at this point, I can use ALL the help I can get! They all spoiled me with adorable outfits, diapers, blankets etc...I'm so blessed to be able to work with such great people. Here are a few pictures!
Jane and I...I like to joke that she got more "tummy time" than Ronnie...I knew that she would appreciate all of his little movements throughout the day and I would always make sure that she knew when he was kicking so she could enjoy too. Jane moved away and I miss her so much at work, hopefully she will be able to come and see him soon. Love you girl!!!!
This is me with Jane & Patty - the party girls! Thanks for throwing me such an awesome baby shower!
My second baby shower was given by Ronnie's amazing mom and sisters, they are so fun and creative and it was just the perfect day. I was surrounded by some dear friends, some of which I haven't seen in a while, and it was so special for me. My brother-in-law works at a hotel and he was able to reserve a conference room for us...it was so nice to have all of the space so that I could invite all of my wonderful friends and family.
First of all, the decorations were soooo cute! They made these adorable vases out of a cable knit sweater sleeve and added branches and crystals...I thought that they were so creative and perfect...I even went home and made a couple for myself!
We played some fun games...for one of them, we had to guess what my baby was going to look like - young or old! Everyone had to cut different features out of magazines and glue them on a paper...here are a couple that they came up with!
This one has a SLIGHT resemblance to David Beckham...ahhh...thanks guys!
I also got some amazing gifts, Alicia made me this adorable carseat cover...
My mom made him some more adorable hats...he has so many now, his head should never be cold...he's gonna be one lucky kid with a such an amazingly talented Grandma!
Look how cute this outfit is from Aunt Rebecca & Uncle Nate...
I got so many cute things...too many to show! The best part was having so many people that I love right there with me...here's my wonderful family...my sister Emma-Leigh, my sister-in-law Rebecca (all the way from Boise!), me, my mom, my baby sister Maci and my sister-in-law Rachelle.
These are the girls that put everything together...all Ronnie's beautiful sisters and mom...Beth, Monique, Alicia, Tennessa (with our niece, Jayda), and Ronnie's mom, Anna. Thank you guys so much! It was perfect in every way!
Now onto the basement saga! I wasn't able to start my baby's room for a while because it was being occupied by my baby bro. The plan was to finish part of the basement "really quick" so that Bren could move downstairs and we could get going on the baby's room. Well, I guess I never realized all of the steps that it took to finish a basement. When we moved in, half of the basement was sheetrocked and even painted, but it was still just one big room and we wanted to add another bedroom, so a couple of weeks ago it was finally finished...Yeah!!!! Here are some progress pictures.
This was taken before we moved in, this is a view looking towards what would one day be the bedroom...
and here is the view while in progress...
at the last possible minute we decided to put some tile down there because we knew that we wanted to have a countertop and cabinets for snacks and things, but we ended up buying a Coke fountain on Craigslist and thought that it would be better to have tile if something wet/sticky was entering the equation
and here are some finished views - YIPPEE! I have a nice closet for blankets and games and a very spacious room that we are planning on putting a screen, projector, surround sound etc. For right now, it is just a big beautiful finished room.
and this is a picture looking towards what would one day be our "theater room"...
and pretty much finished...once Bren moves out, we plan to put our exercise equipment in here...I thought that I had a different picture, but this will have to do!
There is obviously a lot of stuff still left to do down there, but to have carpet, better lighting, doors, switches (separete ones for each room...I know, high tech!) is just so nice. Our next project is finishing the other side of the basement which will include another bedroom, a bathroom and a laundry/storage room. I can hardly wait!
Well, I'm off to bed! We have a BIG day tomorrow and I need to get my last night of good sleep. Wish me luck! I will be posting updates when our bundle of joy arrives!
