Newborn Pictures

When Greysen was just 4 days old, we took him to get newborn pictures. Oh my heck, they turned out sooo cute!!! Of all the babies born in the world, I don't know how I was lucky enough to get the CUTEST one! :) I know everyone says that, but I think he is just so special! Caralee Case took his pictures and she is absolutely AMAZING...check out her blog here. Enjoy!!!!

Greysen's Story

I can't believe that it has already been a month since my sweet little boy was born...the other day at girl's night my friend asked me to tell her EVERYTHING about my first birthing experience and I was seriously struggling to remember some of the details! Shut up! I need to get this into writing ASAP! So here it goes...

I was scheduled to be induced at 2:00pm on Monday February 21, my original due date was the 19th and up until my last scheduled doctors appointment, I had absolutely NO progress - he was definitely being stubborn! Ronnie and I showed up at Mountain View hospital...
...we were excited (horrified) as you can see... :)

My last pregnancy picture...40 weeks+...

After finishing all of the paperwork and getting into our room, Ronnie and his dad gave me a blessing...with all the chaos and excitment of the day I almost forgot to ask for a blessing, my mom asked me if I planned to get one and I'm so glad that she did because I would have totally spaced it! I can't help but think that everything went so smoothly because I had been blessed with extra protection that day. They started me on pitocin at around 3:00pm and slowly increased it for the next couple of hours...it had obviously not kicked in yet at this point... :)

Once the contractions startd getting more intense the nurse recommended that I bend my knees and have Ronnie push on my legs during my contrations to help relieve some of th pressure...honestly, it probably didn't do much good, but I made him do it during EVERY contraction! At one point he had the NERVE to tell me that it was hurting his wrists to push so hard...oh my heck...forgive me, my love, for not having a little more sympathy!!!! This was obviously a tense time...hence, no pictures! I had a couple hours of heavy contracions before my doctor came in around 9:30pm, I was still only technically dialated to a 3, but he decided to break my water and order the epidural...halle-freakin'-lujah! I knew going into it that I probably wouldn't have a very high tolerence for pain, and I was ABSOLUTELY correct! I actually handled it pretty good considering I have never been in the hospital for anything before in my life...no stitches, broken bones...NOTHING! Here we are after my epidural...a HAPPY little couple once again...

I love this picture of me sleeping, even though you can clearly see me having contrations on the monitor...yes life was good!

The doctor and nurses told us to go ahead and get some sleep because they didn't anticipate the baby coming until about 5:00-6:00am the next morning. We were both exhausted and planned to take FULL advantage of what would possibly be our last night of peaceful sleep. Little did we know...our little guy had a different plan. I woke up at about 11:30 pm when I heard the door open, it was just my doctor coming to check on my progress. As he lifted the sheet I saw a puzzled look on his face, and he looked at me and said "let me get the nurses, we're about to have a baby!" I was still half asleep and didn't know if he was joking but I hurried and woke Ronnie up and he didn't believe me until the doctor and nurses all came running in a few seconds later. We had the coolest doctor and earlier in the day he asked Ronnie if he would like to participate in the delivery, so while the nurses were prepping me for delivery, Ronnie was getting all suited up...how exciting! I wish I had a picture with Dr. Thinnes, but everything was moving so quickly! I started pushing at about 12:00am and everything progressed really nice, it was fun watching the doctor explain to Ronnie everything that he needed to do and how he needed to hold his hands in preparation to catch the baby. I was pushing for probably 30 minutes when they realized the he was coming out face up instead of face down like the are supposed to. I don't know if this is really that big of a deal, but he was almost ready to come out when the doctor proceeded to tell Ronnie that he needed to do exactly OPPOSITE as he had just explained (as far as getting into position to catch the baby). I could tell that Ronnie was getting nervous and he turned to the doctor and said "umm, you can go ahead and catch this one, I'll get the next one"...yeah right! The doctor said, "nope, get in there...you can do it!" and I'm so glad he did, it was so awesome to watch Ronnie catch his son and hand him over to me. Greysen Gene was born at 12:47am on February 22, 2011 - he was a healthy 7 lbs 4oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. He was such a cutie (even though he had a HUGE cone head from delivery...apparently he was sitting in the birth canal for a while before anyone even realized it! Here he is just a few minutes after joining our family...

First bath - he still has this reaction sometimes!
Proud (and tired) daddy :) This was the first newborn he has ever held and he looks like a pro...ahhh I LOVE this man!

Our first official family photo...
Greysen's "birth"day cupcakes...I thought it was cute that the hospital gives you cupcakes, they were from the Cocoa Bean...yum! PS...cute hat courtesy of my mom-in case you couldn't guess - I LOVE all of the hat LOVE!

Sweetness...

Ahhh...soooo tired!
Since we had Greysen 47 minutes into Tuesday, we had to stay in the hospital until Thursday...sheesh! I was sooo ready to go home, especially since my mom came down and she could only stay through Sunday. Here he is, all ready for his first trip outside...

Welcome home Greysen! Here I am with my little boy AND my little girl :) Mercedes is doing so well with him, although she has jumped into his bassinet with him in the middle of the night a couple of times! She wants to be wherever he is and I think it is adorable.

I really feel like I have been so blessed...I went through this whole process with no complications and came out of it with a beautiful and healthy baby boy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

Baby Showers and Basements!

Wow! It's crazy that the day is finally here to have our little guy! My due date was the 19th (yesturday) and I'm scheduled to be induced tomorrow at 2pm...I'm anxious and nervous all at the same time, but I THINK that I am ready for this new adventure. I figured I better do a quick post before going in to cover all of the things that have been happening in the last several weeks. First of all, I had 2 AMAZING baby showers, one with all of my collegues and friends at work and the other with family and friends from outside of work - they were both wonderful and I definitely felt the love. My friends Jane and Patty threw me my first baby shower was with all of the girls in my department at Melaleuca...everyone gave me some great advice about being a mother and raising children, and honestly at this point, I can use ALL the help I can get! They all spoiled me with adorable outfits, diapers, blankets etc...I'm so blessed to be able to work with such great people. Here are a few pictures!

Jane and I...I like to joke that she got more "tummy time" than Ronnie...I knew that she would appreciate all of his little movements throughout the day and I would always make sure that she knew when he was kicking so she could enjoy too. Jane moved away and I miss her so much at work, hopefully she will be able to come and see him soon. Love you girl!!!!

This is me with Jane & Patty - the party girls! Thanks for throwing me such an awesome baby shower!

My second baby shower was given by Ronnie's amazing mom and sisters, they are so fun and creative and it was just the perfect day. I was surrounded by some dear friends, some of which I haven't seen in a while, and it was so special for me. My brother-in-law works at a hotel and he was able to reserve a conference room for us...it was so nice to have all of the space so that I could invite all of my wonderful friends and family.
First of all, the decorations were soooo cute! They made these adorable vases out of a cable knit sweater sleeve and added branches and crystals...I thought that they were so creative and perfect...I even went home and made a couple for myself!

We played some fun games...for one of them, we had to guess what my baby was going to look like - young or old! Everyone had to cut different features out of magazines and glue them on a paper...here are a couple that they came up with!

This one has a SLIGHT resemblance to David Beckham...ahhh...thanks guys!

I also got some amazing gifts, Alicia made me this adorable carseat cover...

My mom made him some more adorable hats...he has so many now, his head should never be cold...he's gonna be one lucky kid with a such an amazingly talented Grandma!

Look how cute this outfit is from Aunt Rebecca & Uncle Nate...

I got so many cute things...too many to show! The best part was having so many people that I love right there with me...here's my wonderful family...my sister Emma-Leigh, my sister-in-law Rebecca (all the way from Boise!), me, my mom, my baby sister Maci and my sister-in-law Rachelle.

These are the girls that put everything together...all Ronnie's beautiful sisters and mom...Beth, Monique, Alicia, Tennessa (with our niece, Jayda), and Ronnie's mom, Anna. Thank you guys so much! It was perfect in every way!

Now onto the basement saga! I wasn't able to start my baby's room for a while because it was being occupied by my baby bro. The plan was to finish part of the basement "really quick" so that Bren could move downstairs and we could get going on the baby's room. Well, I guess I never realized all of the steps that it took to finish a basement. When we moved in, half of the basement was sheetrocked and even painted, but it was still just one big room and we wanted to add another bedroom, so a couple of weeks ago it was finally finished...Yeah!!!! Here are some progress pictures.
This was taken before we moved in, this is a view looking towards what would one day be the bedroom...

and here is the view while in progress...

at the last possible minute we decided to put some tile down there because we knew that we wanted to have a countertop and cabinets for snacks and things, but we ended up buying a Coke fountain on Craigslist and thought that it would be better to have tile if something wet/sticky was entering the equation

and here are some finished views - YIPPEE! I have a nice closet for blankets and games and a very spacious room that we are planning on putting a screen, projector, surround sound etc. For right now, it is just a big beautiful finished room.

and this is a picture looking towards what would one day be our "theater room"...

and pretty much finished...once Bren moves out, we plan to put our exercise equipment in here...I thought that I had a different picture, but this will have to do!

There is obviously a lot of stuff still left to do down there, but to have carpet, better lighting, doors, switches (separete ones for each room...I know, high tech!) is just so nice. Our next project is finishing the other side of the basement which will include another bedroom, a bathroom and a laundry/storage room. I can hardly wait!
Well, I'm off to bed! We have a BIG day tomorrow and I need to get my last night of good sleep. Wish me luck! I will be posting updates when our bundle of joy arrives!

Baby Bump!!!

So I went back and forth trying to decide if I should get maternity pictures taken. I've seen some ADORABLE pictures of some dang cute prego ladies, but didn't know if I could go through with it. Well, after a little convincing from the hubby, I made the appointment. I am sooooo excited how they turned out! I went to Caralee Case and she did an AWESOME job. I love how they are cute and classy will still showing a little skin :) Check out her blog...caraleephotography.blogspot.com she does some of the cutest newborn/children pictures and I can't wait for her to do our little guy's pictures. Enjoy!

It's crazy thinking that I only have 3 weeks left! We've been working on the nursery all weekend and I will have pictures to show shortly. It has been the biggest stresser for me to have to wait to get things done on it, but it looks like we will be able to get it all finished up. More updates to come!
